“MWAC” means Mom With a Camera.
I just read a great article from the NYT. I found out from my professional organization newsgroup the ASMP. Once again some of the oldtimers were complaining about how unfair it is that GOD forbid new talent should find its way into the market. I found it interesting that the moms they mentioned were often approached by other moms to photograph thier children. Good for them. The other thing I find that the article left out is that a nice camera does not a photographer make. I have a lot of friends who own nice equipment and yet they still hire me to take photos. Although they are learning and I try to give pointers when I can. I can still deliver a more consistent product. Not to say that won't change, and they won't learn as I have, but for the moment my skills and knowledge can provide an end product that works. A specific comment comes to mind. "The light always seems to be perfect where you are photographing." Maybe the good light just follows me around :^)
