America's Next Top Model
Although by no means am I a faithful watcher of ANTM, I do pause when I find it as I'm flipping through the channels. I always wait to see if they've done the shoot yet - and if they've shown that weeks photos. For me, its exciting to see the production - in season one they had them in a water tank, I think the last one I saw was in a bullfighting ring. What fun and fabulous ideas. I do find a certain flaw in thier search. Nailing the shot isn't about the model. Its about the photographer, having talent that anticipates and follows direction is a blessing,
but getting the shot is what the photographer is paid for, selecting the right models; the location, its all part of the package. For instance I was working on some fun shots today for Kiwi Industries and one of my models was great; bursting with energy and very helpful for an almost 2 year old. The other was reluctant and I had to coax her - so I grabbed her on the sly. I anticipated and I waited, and there with a slight turn a little motion and the moment was mine.Click. Sigh. My work here is done.
