  • What is ADHD Coaching?
ADHD coaching is a specialized type of coaching that helps you to achieve your goals by helping you gain skills and learning new strategies that can be applied to daily life. I utilize a holistic approach in my coaching and use a variety of approaches such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-based methods. Together we develop a personalized action plan with clear instructions that are tailored to your unique needs and goals.
  • What can ADHD Coaching help me with? How can ADHD coaching help me?
ADHD coaching can help a person with ADHD or ADHD-like symptoms to overcome their challenges and set goals with realistic plans for reaching them. A coach may help an individual with ADHD to: Improve focus, concentration, and attention Shift your mindset to a growth mindset to increase positive thinking and motivation Improve organization and productivity Reduce procrastination or avoidance of tasks/projects that need to be completed Identify healthy boundaries and how to best implement them Learn to plan, organize, and manage your time more effectively Understand your own strengths and challenges, and take action to improve your life Feel more confident about yourself as a person and your ability to succeed in life.
  • What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching helps people achieve their goals, change behaviour, build skills, and modify their environment to better meet their needs. Coaches help people set priorities, discover their strengths, and master healthy habits. Coaching exists in the here and now. It is typically more strengths-based, collaborative, and ‘action-focused’. Therapy, on the other hand, is a process of helping clients process thoughts and feelings in a more adaptive way. Therapy often focuses on the past and has emotion-oriented goals. Both coaching and therapy are focused on helping people improve their lives by working through issues that may be hindering them. Coaching focuses on thriving while therapy focuses on coping. Coaching provides the structural support clients need to maximize their personal and professional potential through positive, long-term change.
  • What if I don't have ADHD but I have similar challenges, can you help?
Yes. An ADHD coach can provide anyone with guidance on overall life goals & improvement. Through a customized plan of action, I can help with knowing how to manage stress, improve relationships and increase productivity in general.
  • How do I know working with you will help me?
Working with an ADHD coach provides you with access to effective tools to help you succeed. The effective tools that are provided are backed by research and years of study as a way to alleviate ADHD challenges. However, the degree of improvement is not solely dependent on the effectiveness of the coach. Each individual seeking coaching is going to need to approach the sessions with openness and motivation. There is no easy & fast solution. Attending each session with a positive mind set will significantly increase the chance of considerable improvement. Let’s work together as a team to get you to where you want to be!
  • What makes you different from other ADHD coaches?
I have over 10 years of previous experience as an Occupational Therapist. I worked in various mental health settings and have extensive experience treating individuals with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders to manage symptoms and start thriving. This experience is invaluable as many individuals with ADHD also live with a co-occurring disorder (ie. depression or anxiety). As someone with ADHD myself, I can understand and appreciate the challenges of living with ADHD. I ‘get it’. With a Master’s of Science in OT, I studied neuroscience, cognition. and executive function. Simply put – I understand how the ADHD brain works. I utilize my expert knowledge of executive function to help you address the root cause of your challenges. This helps you reach your goals and you reach them faster. I use approaches based on science. I can assure you that your ADHD coaching experience will be individualized and unique to you. I'm not just a coach, but an advocate and cheerleader for my clients. Let me help you discover your strengths, find a system that fits your needs and build on the skills and strengths that you already possess to achieve your goals.
  • Who is a good fit for ADHD coaching?
You are a good candidate for an ADHD coaching plan if: You have ADHD or ADHD-like symptoms and have struggled with school/work/relationships and have been left feeling frustrated, powerless, or hopeless. You have tried to manage your ADHD symptoms with medication alone but find something is missing. You have struggled to get organized, stay on task and meet deadlines. You have experienced difficulty managing your emotions, especially when under stress. You are wanting change and to focus on the things that matter most to you. You are motivated to make changes with the support and help of a coach to guide you. ADHD is a highly manageable and treatable condition with the proper support in place. That's what I am here for.
  • How do the coaching calls work?
ADHD sessions take place on video conference or via phone, whichever you are most comfortable with. The frequency of sessions is typically weekly or biweekly, depending on client preference. They are 50 minutes in length. You’re free to choose the dates that suit your schedule best.
  • Can I claim ADHD coaching through my insurance?
Generally, no. Coaching is typically not covered by insurance. However, some employers will cover the cost of ADHD coaching under a wellness plan, a professional development fund, or with HR. Please contact your employer to confirm.
  • What happens after we're done?
Once all sessions are done, you will also have full access to the ADHD program materials that are provided to you in your custom ADHD workbook that is designed specifically for you. If you feel that you would benefit from added support or accountability, some clients choose to do check-ins or maintenance sessions. Your continued health and wellness is my top priority.
